McAfee Command Line
Scanner looks like an old DOS program.
However, it is a full 32bit Windows® program, but without the GUI interface.

If you have McAfee VirusScan
8.7i
( the GUI version ),
then McAfee Command Line
6.x is no longer
shipped with the GUI version.
You need an NAI grant number and then you can
download the command line scanner from their
support portal. The file name of the latest
version is vscl-w32-6.0.1-l.zip and you need to
extract the files into C:\Program Files\Common
Files\McAfee\Engine
- If you have McAfee VirusScan 7.x/8.x ( the GUI version ),
then you may find McAfee Command Line 4.x/5.x at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\Engine\Scan.exe
- If you have McAfee VirusScan 6.x ( the GUI version ),
then you may find McAfee Command Line 4.x/5.x at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\VirusScan Engine\4.0.xx\Scan.exe
- Else download the scanner using the description you find below and
extract the files from the zip to a directory of you choice.
- In MBAdmin select View->Options->Virus and
select the directory to which you extracted scan.exe.
Download There are several choices for downloading the scanner:
DAT Files The
latest DAT files are available from
ftp://ftp.nai.com/commonupdater2/current/vscandat1000/dat/0000/
The name of the file is avvdat-xxxx.zip,
where xxxx is a daily changing number.
